05 Feb Catch of the day – Fish
We don’t know about you, but there is nothing we love more than to visit the market and, if we are lucky, “catch” a kilo of gavuna/girica or some other small fish, and prepare it for lunch. This meal is everybody’s darling, equally popular with kids and adults – pure comfort food, in this case raised to a slightly higher and healthier level.
- 1 kg of small fish
- flour – white/spelt (as you like) mixed with a little Dopo Dropo grape seed flour for crunch
- dry mixture of herbs (optional)
- sunflower frying oil with a fair drop of Dopo Dropo oil of red variety grape seeds
- Fleur de sel – from Nin or Pag – whichever you love and have at home
Roll dried fine fish into a mixture of flour and herbs. Shake off the excess flour and put in a hot oil mixture (the amount of oil must be enough to cover the bottom of the pan well). Fry for 3-4 minutes, depending on the size of the fish, until they become crunchy. Drain the fried gold-yellow fish on a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still warm, add a drop of lemon juice if you like it that way, and serve them warm with Dopo Dropo mayonnaise.
